Daily Self-Care Practices You Need

This is a necessity for everyone. We often care about others before we care for ourselves.  It is not just taking a bubble bath, lighting candles and relaxing, it is so much more than that. To nurture your mind and soul is to self-care. You may want to take that long bubble bath (I do), or practice a hobby,  or get lost in a book, as long as you’re doing it mindfully.

This is different for everyone. I enjoy taking long bubble baths with a glass of chocolate milk, painting my nails afterwards and binge watching YouTube. I enjoy my alone time very much. Take time to do things you love for yourself, appreciate yourself. It could be five minutes to an hour to a day to a weekend. We need to relax and rejuvenate.

Schedule “me time”

I don’t schedule time for myself. Whenever I need a break, I take one. But by that time I am exhausted and run down.

Together, we can take care of ourselves starting right now. Do whatever makes you feel good. Try something new. Be aware of how you are feeling and make yourself feel better.

I have came to realize that since Sundays are my only day off, I use those days to relax, catch up on things and rejuvenate so I am ready for the week ahead.

Daily Habit

Make it a daily habit.

My daily self-care includes coffee and blaring my music in the morning. This gets me going. A day without this, is a bad day.

Even waking up a bit early to read a book, listen to music, have a treat while watching your favorite show or movie in the evening. Go out to eat, to the movies, get some Starbucks, do a good deed… anything that will make you feel better.

So what are some ways you can practice self-care? There’s a million ways.

  • Declutter anything and everything
  • Go for a walk
  • Read a book
  • Take a long hot shower or bath
  • Sleep 8 hours or more
  • Start a journal
  • Meditate
  • Try a new recipe
  • Listen to your favorite song
  • Binge watch TV
  • Eat chocolate or ice cream or donuts or all three
  • Splurge on coffee or tea
  • Pamper yourself
  • Do your nails
  • Get your hair done 
  • Put on your favorite outfit
  • Make your favorite meal and/or dessert 
  • Do an extra workout
  • Create a vision board
  • Do a good deed
  • Take a nap (my favorite thing to do)
  • Give some extra love to you, your friends, family
  • Go shopping
  • Put extra money away
  • Plant flowers
  • Paint/draw
  • Go for a swim
  • Clean your car
  • Sun bathe
  • Get a message
  • Have a drink 😉
  • Do nothing 

I will be doing all of these and you should do them as well! Self-care is important, take care of yourself before you wreck yourself.

    Great tips. We binge watch tv lots in my household – it’s one of the things we do best, lol. Love also the eat chocolate, ice cream, donuts etc – all contradict my diet routine but sometimes one needs that ey!
